Is the target metal or reflective?

Emissivity is a measure of the reflectiveness of materials. Reflective – or low emissivity – materials pose challenges when using an IR sensor. See technote 20 for more information.

What is the target temperature?

ACE sensor yield linear signals between 0-100C or 0-250C (scalable). IRt/c sensors are calibrated specifically for desired temperature range. See technote 35 for more information.

What is the field of view?

The field of view is defined as ratio distance to spotsize X:Y where X is the distance between sensor and target, and Y is the diameter of the measured spot.

For example, a sensor with a 5:1 FOV measures a 1” spot at a 5” distance.
